Privacy Policy
Updated: 30 October 2026
In short
KeepOne runs entirely on your device. The app does not collect, store or send any photo, data, metric or identifier off the device. There is no account, no server, no advertising and no analytics.
Data the app touches
- Photo library. The app asks for permission to read your photo library in order to find duplicates and low-quality photos. Reading, comparing and measuring happen on the device itself.
- Computed data kept on the device. So the next launch does not start over, the app keeps in its own storage: a 64-bit image hash per photo (the photo cannot be reconstructed from it), a few quality numbers per photo (sharpness, brightness, contrast), and your choices (locked photos, photos queued for deletion, kept photos, settings). Deleting the app deletes all of it, except the item below.
- A few numbers in the app's settings. The count of photos deleted and space saved, the free allowance used in the current 30-day period, and whether you own Pro are kept in the app's private settings. If you have Android backup turned on, they may be part of that backup; reinstalling without restoring a backup resets them (Pro comes back with "Restore purchases"). They are numbers only, no photos and no identifiers, and never reach us.
- Deleting photos. The app deletes photos only when you press delete and confirm the operating system's dialog. On Android 11 and later, photos go to the system trash and can be recovered for as long as the system keeps it; on older Android versions they are deleted at once. If your library syncs with a cloud storage service, the deletion may sync according to that service's settings.
What the app does not do
- It never uploads photos or thumbnails to any server.
- It does not read location, contacts, microphone or camera.
- It does not use the network, except when the operating system fetches a photo you explicitly open.
- It does not identify faces and stores no biometric data.
Permissions
- Photos (
READ_MEDIA_IMAGESon Android 13 and later,READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGEon older versions; Android 14 lets you pick only some photos): required to find duplicates. You can revoke it at any time in the operating system's settings.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
When this policy changes, the new version ships inside the app with the date at the top.
