Privacy Policy

Updated: 30 October 2026

In short

KeepOne runs entirely on your device. The app does not collect, store or send any photo, data, metric or identifier off the device. There is no account, no server, no advertising and no analytics.

Data the app touches

  • Photo library. The app asks for permission to read your photo library in order to find duplicates and low-quality photos. Reading, comparing and measuring happen on the device through the operating system's Photos and Vision frameworks.
  • Computed data kept on the device. So the next launch does not start over, the app keeps in its own storage: a 64-bit image hash per photo (the photo cannot be reconstructed from it), a few quality numbers per photo (sharpness, brightness, contrast), content labels assigned by Vision (for example "fireworks"), and your choices (locked photos, photos queued for deletion, kept photos, settings). Deleting the app deletes all of it, except the item below.
  • A few numbers in the system Keychain. The count of photos deleted and space saved, the free allowance used in the current 30-day period, and whether you own Pro are kept in the Keychain (iOS), so reinstalling neither loses a purchase nor resets the free allowance. They are numbers only, no photos and no identifiers; they may sync through iCloud Keychain between your devices and never reach us.
  • Shrinking videos. When you choose to shrink a video, it is re-encoded on the device and saved as a new video in your library; the original is only deleted if you delete it. If the video is only in iCloud, the operating system downloads it to the device for this.
  • Deleting photos. The app deletes photos only when you press delete and confirm the operating system's dialog. On iOS, photos go to "Recently Deleted" and can be recovered for 30 days; with iCloud Photos the deletion syncs to your other devices.

What the app does not do

  • It never uploads photos or thumbnails to any server.
  • It never downloads iCloud-only photos to compare them; those are skipped until they are on the device.
  • It does not read location, contacts, microphone or camera.
  • It does not use the network, except when the operating system fetches a photo you explicitly open.
  • It does not identify faces and stores no biometric data.

Permissions

  • Photos ("Full Access" or "Selected Photos"): required to find duplicates. You can revoke it at any time in the operating system's settings.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

When this policy changes, the new version ships inside the app with the date at the top.
